The value of a good mentor is immeasurable when it comes to learning the “tricks of any trade” be it developing a skill, mastering a sport or starting your own business. A mentor can help to alleviate many of the frustrations new or seasoned entrepreneurs often experience as they struggle to develop a successful business.

A good mentor can act as the wise adviser who can help you unmask some of your weaknesses, then help you discover and develop a road-map to fill those gaps.  All of this can happen on many levels: business evaluation and selection, technical, marketing, training, etc.

The importance of mentoring relationships becomes even more evident as one recognizes the value of maintaining an on-going relationship with your mentors and continuing to network with your mentors throughout your entrepreneurial development.

As you progress and grow in your chosen endeavor, you can never out grow the need for a good mentor.  This is why many professionals, especially the MEGA successful athletes and professional sports teams … continue to seek out and retain the services of good coaches (aka good mentors).

Identifying an appropriate mentor and establishing your objectives for the mentoring relationship is critical to your success.

In finding a mentor, it is important that you first establish your goals of the mentoring releationship.  Like anything else, you MUST do your due diligence. Otherwise you can end up wasting a lot of precious time and money.
